Ever won an award before? You know, the announcers open the
envelope and say your name out loud, you have to walk to the stage, the sort-of
small plaque is being handed to you, and then all eyes are on you waiting for
you to say something?
It just happened to me. Gosh, I got it! Who would have
thought.....? It's so overwhelming. And as always, I lost word in front of the
public. Great! :p :p :p
Ok, so my office has this habit of giving awards to the
employees. Which is good. It feels really nice whenever people regards and
appreciates what you have done and what you are doing. Does your office have
the same thing?
For the regular annual award, any employees could submit
nomination of an individual or a team to an Award Committee. Of course, it's
confidential. Then this committee assess it. If you or your team wins, the Big
Boss will announce it through e-mail and in the next payroll cycle, you'll get
the cash prize (no plaque, no stage, no speech).
However, this year, as an addition to that regular annual
award, there is another award-giving occasion during the Year End Party event.
No cash prize for this, but the winner will receive a small plaque during an Oscar-style ceremony (ok, well, much less glamour than the Oscar, but you get
the point, right? *lol*).
I found out I was nominated from a colleague, who suddenly
dropped me a message, saying that she voted for me. Ha? Voted me for what? Ah,
there's a link to 'survey monkey' in the e-mail invitation to vote. I didn't
realize. And there you go: my name! My name is among other nominees who are the
high caliber officers in the office. Who the heck would want to nominate me??
Whoever you are: many many many thanks. And for those who
voted for me: as well, much much much thanks!!!
